Consortium of Chinese Institutions for Collaboration with CERN
One community.One frontier.
CCICC brings together Chinese universities and research institutes working with CERN — coordinating the LHC experiments, accelerator technology and computing, and advancing research for future colliders.

About CCICC
One consortium, one voice, and a network spanning China's particle-physics community.
The Consortium of Chinese Institutions for Collaboration with CERN (CCICC) was founded by IHEP, USTC, UCAS, Peking University, Nanjing University and Central China Normal University. It is a voluntary platform for Chinese institutions working with CERN, with its Secretariat hosted by IHEP.
Its mandate is to coordinate, represent, connect and train: aligning Chinese participation across the four LHC experiments, accelerator technology and distributed computing, providing a single channel to CERN, and extending collaboration toward future colliders.
Non-corporate
A collaboration platform, not a company or commercial entity.
Framework-based
Grounded in the charter and MoU as a non-binding framework.
Self-funded
Members fund their own staff and research; no mandatory contribution.
Voluntary
Join or withdraw under the charter, without affecting existing projects.

Focus areas
From frontier physics to engineering delivery
Our work spans scientific goals, detector and accelerator development, data infrastructure and people — supporting members across the full arc of CERN collaboration.
LHC physics
Across all four LHC experiments — Higgs, electroweak, strong-interaction and flavour physics.
Explore 02Detectors & accelerators
HL-LHC detector upgrades, superconducting magnets and accelerator technology, plus the AGORA detector concept for future colliders such as FCC-ee.
Explore 03Computing & data
Operating the WLCG Beijing Tier-1 centre and advancing distributed computing, software and AI.
Explore 04People & governance
Representation through the IB and SC, plus exchange, joint training and capacity building.
ExploreHow we work
A structured bridge between Chinese institutions and CERN
Through a three-tier structure — Steering Committee, Institutional Board and Secretariat — CCICC turns distributed participation into shared positions and joint action.
- Internal coordination — Aligning common issues across experiments, accelerators and computing.
- External representation — Engaging CERN through a single, structured channel.
- Policy interface — Connecting with MOST, MOE, NSFC and CAS.
