Structure & decisions
Three tiers that turn distributed participation into shared action
The Steering Committee sets direction, the Institutional Board brings together member representatives, and the Secretariat coordinates day-to-day work.

Principles
Equal, consensus-based, transparent, complementary
CCICC respects the autonomy of every member while strengthening collective coordination. Major matters are decided through full consultation.
- Equal members — All members have an equal right to participate.
- Consensus — Major matters are decided by consultation, not unilateral action.
- Transparency — Meetings, documents and decisions are shared with members.
- Complementary — Consortium arrangements complement, rather than replace, existing collaborations.
FAQ
Common questions about governance
Is CCICC a legal entity?
No. CCICC is a voluntary collaboration platform. It is not a legal entity and does not create any company or commercial venture. Its cooperation documents are framework arrangements.
Does membership require a financial contribution?
There is no mandatory contribution. Members fund their own staff and research; CERN provides facilities, data and office support under the collaboration. Any joint investment is agreed case by case.
Will joining affect our existing experimental collaborations?
No. CCICC does not alter or replace members' existing arrangements with ATLAS, CMS, ALICE, LHCb or other projects. It adds a consortium-level coordination and policy platform.
How do members take part in decisions?
Members nominate Institutional Board representatives for each experiment and domain. The Steering Committee coordinates strategy and major matters. Seats and procedures follow the charter.
How can an institution withdraw?
Members may withdraw under the charter and procedures agreed by the Steering Committee. Ongoing projects are handled according to the charter.
